Disneyland Reopening Delayed

Mouse Fans everywhere share disappointment that the reopening of Disneyland Park will be delayed. I’m sending hugs to all of you out there. We know that this is a necessary step in order to keep everyone safe. The theme parks would not be the same without all of the smiling, healthy visitors within. Below the is the official statement by Disney.

We previously announced a proposed phased reopening of our theme parks for July 17, pending government approvals. We developed enhanced health and safety protocols for both cast and guests at Shanghai Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort that have been approved, allowing us to reopen in a responsible manner and bring our cast members back to work.

The State of California has now indicated that it will not issue theme park reopening guidelines until sometime after July 4. Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials. Once we have a clearer understanding of when guidelines will be released, we expect to be able to communicate a reopening date.

Our Downtown Disney District will reopen on July 9 as previously announced with health and safety protocols in place for our cast members and guests. The opening of our Downtown Disney District has been previously approved in line with restaurant and retail openings throughout California. The Master Services Union, which represents our retail cast at this location, previously signed an agreement for members to return to work.

In order to reopen our theme parks we need to negotiate agreements with our unions to return employees to work. We have had positive discussions and are very pleased to have signed agreements from 20 union affiliates, including the Master Services Council, which represents more than 11,000 of our cast members. The signed agreement details plans that include enhanced safety protocols that will allow us to responsibly reopen, and get thousands of our cast members back to work.

We thank our cast and guests for their patience during this unprecedented time while we await approval from government officials.

Now we will wait and see what the state of California and the Disney officials come up with together. Above all, stay safe, take care of yourself and We’ll See Ya Real Soon

Disneyland – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Reservations

Disney has officially released information regarding reservations to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during the first few weeks of the new land’s opening. This has the inner nerd in me jumping up & down waving my imaginary lightsaber in the air.

What you need to know about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Reservations for Disney Park. © Disney

Reservations are Required to enter the land from May 31st – June 23rd, 2019
For these 24 days you need to have a reservation just to get into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. There will be NO stand-by lines!

Guests Staying at a Disneyland Resort are currently able to make reservations & will be guaranteed entry.
If you are a guest with a Disneyland Resort reservation, you are guaranteed entry into the new land. For my current guests, I am working on your park reservation as I type this. There are still some rooms available so if you want to visit during these weeks you can contact me to assist you with your Disneyland vacation package including my complimentary planning assistance.

Reservations do not cost anything: Yup you read that right. This is something that you can get from Disney without any additional cost to you.

Reservations for guests not staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel will begin on May 2nd.

Make sure you have a Disney account. If you do not have a Disney account, take the time to create one. Reservations for guests who are not staying in a Disneyland Resort will need to be made online through your account. If you are one of my guests, I will be reaching out to you regarding this.

After June 23rd Reservations will no longer be required. If you are arriving after June 23rd, reservations will no longer be required to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

No word on Fastpasses: So far there has been no word on Fastpasses being available for the opening attraction Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run. I would plan on long lines & no Fastpasses in the foreseeable future

I can’t help but wonder if they will follow this same reservation policy for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World. Since I live near Orlando, I will be sitting on the edge of my seat to hear more about how this will work in Hollywood Studios Park when it opens on August 29th, 2019.

Keep following me on my Facebook page for more information & details as they become available. It’s better to enter the park armed with knowledge than with a lightsaber. 🙂 fb.me/MelissaAndTheMouse

New Halloween Party coming to Disney California Adventure Park – Oogie Boogie Bash

2019 is a huge year for brand new additions to the Disney Parks and the Disneyland Halloween party is no exception. The Disneyland Resort is bringing a brand new Halloween party to California Adventure Park for guests to enjoy. In the past they offered Mickey’s Trick or Treat Party in the Magic Kingdom; this year they are moving the party to California Adventure park with a brand new theme.

Like Halloween parties of the past, this event will require a separate ticket to enter the park for the action. A new World of Color – Villainous spectacular will be only part of the excitement. There will also be a Descendants-inspired dance party, a stage show with Mickey and a fun but mysterious Disney villains walk-through experience will be taking over the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Of course, there will be Halloween treat trails for the kids & kids at heart to enjoy and no Disney Halloween party would be complete without a parade lead by the Headless Horseman himself.

According the the Disney Parks Blog, some of the event highlights include:

“Villainous!” – The new “World of Color” show weaves a Halloween tale about a young girl named Shelley Marie. This twisted tale carries Shelley on an unforgettable journey, exploring the villainous side of Disney characters through fountains, lights, lasers, projections and special effects. “Villainous!” shows that, deep down, there’s a little villain in all of us.
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail – Transformed into a wondrous and ethereal world of Disney villains unlike anything seen before, Redwood Creek will be tricked out in a dreamlike environment. This new experience unfolds in a series of scenes, each creating a hauntingly beautiful dream-space of color, sound, light and
shadows, as stories emerge from the darkest night to create an enchanting world.
Immersive Treat Trails – Enjoy trick-or-treating at the new, wonderfully wicked treat trails throughout the park. Iconic characters such as Mad Hatter from Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” or even Oogie Boogie himself will surprise and delight. Additional treat trails will feature oversized cauldrons full of treats for all guests to enjoy.
DescenDance

– A new pulsing party in the Backlot area of Hollywood Land is inspired by the popular “Descendants” franchise from the Disney Channel. As the DescenDance
begins, a spell is cast, summoning the greatest dance crew from the Isle of the Lost to throw down and lead everyone in moves that are set to the biggest hit songs from the “Descendants” films.
“Frightfully Fun Parade” – The guest-favorite parade is coming to Disney California Adventure park for the first time! The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow starts the procession, followed by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse who lead the cavalcade of characters and many mischievous Disney villains who are ready to stir up some trouble along the parade route.
Mickey’s Trick and Treat show – Perfect for young guests, this new, interactive stage production invites kids of all ages to join Mickey Mouse and his pals as they throw a one-of-a-kind Halloween party! Enjoy dancing, not-so-frightening scary-tales, and candy at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
Character encounters – Meet beloved Disney characters – and villains, too. You may be surprised at who you discover at this Halloween party, ready for photos and greetings!
